3 Keys to Social Media Success for Businesses.
Over the past few months as we have begun to grow our digital marketing company I have come to realize there are a lot of misconceptions about what social media is for businesses. So what is social media and how can it be used for a business?
Social media is a dynamic conversation and relationship building between customers and the brands they love. One of the real keys with social media is to understand that deploying social media strategies is very different from deploying traditional marketing campaigns. Success in social media is entirely dependent on your companies ability to communicate it’s brand identity in an engaging way that draws your fans (customers) to share it with others. .
So where do we begin?

1. Set Goals and Define Your Target Audience:
One of the best things social media provides every company is a way to connect with their customers and deliver a personal touch. When implementing a social media plan it is vital that you begin with the end in mind. Ask yourself, who is my target base and how do I best engage them on a social platform. If you are not sure what success looks like from the beginning you will never be successful in seeing results.
2. Personalize the Brand Identity:
It’s key to remember that companies don’t have relationships, people do. Now more than ever it is important to build and strengthen relationships with your customers on social media. One of the best assets in doing this is your people. Finding ways to let your customers peak behind the scenes and to get to know your people personalizes your brand.
3. Celebrate Your Customers:
Remember, social media is all about conversation and relationship building with your customers. Have you ever met someone who didn’t like being celebrated? Social media allows you the chance to celebrate your customers in a personal way but also on scale. Identify the popular hashtags your customers use, or better yet begin to promote your own hashtag on social media. Use them to track your customers who are sharing your message on social media and engage with them and create strategies to celebrate those celebrating you.
One of my favorite parts of social media is that it is fluid and constantly changing. As you begin to develop a following amongst your customers you will find that their responses will help you fine tune your approach leading to new ideas and new conversations. The key is to be comfortable in your brands identity and begin to tell that story in a way that engages your customers.
